Maid of Honor

Guest written by our friend Gladys Fuentes

My sister is getting married next month and I’ve got the privilege of being the maid of honor. It’s a daunting task and I don’t know that I would have accepted had I known how much work goes into this position! The biggest thing that’s tripped me up are all the showers that have to be planned. Between the engagement party, the bridal shower, the bridesmaid’s luncheon (which I had to help with) and the bachelorette party, I’ve become a regular event planner! Not only that, but this whole wedding deal is EXPENSIVE! We’re all expected to get my sister and her fiancĂ© gifts for each of these showers, on top of purchasing our bridesmaids dresses! I decided early on to just get them one big gift and I had come across some CLEAR INTERNET specialswhich worked great as a present for their new home together. They liked it and I could spend my time trying to make sure each shower was perfect. All I can hope is that when I get married, my sister spends just as much effort on me!

Beginning of Portraits Photography

This is my very first post for this blog. I would write most about this site on people and things that I capture through my portrait lens. I am just a beginner with photography though not a profession by any means. This is likely more of my passion and hobby that I want to share and grow with. I am excited to write things about what I learn as a beginner about this field or photography itself. I don't have any degree or background of this sort. This is I think perfect for any new student or a beginner like me who just got a Dslr and trying to experiment the wonderful things that it can create.

I am using my very first DSLR which is a Nikon D80 that I purchased November of 2008. The package was with the kit lens 18-55mm. With one year experience using the camera, I have my share of many failures. The exposure, focus, subjects and background wasn't that great. Most likely I had just been using auto mode. From the time I had seen and read many articles from different photographers and artists November 2009 onwards, I started to tweak my camera. Now it's almost a year. I still haven't got the best photograph I could be proud of. This blog is perfect to jot down all the progress I have with this coming months. I am crossing my fingers to be good in my passion. Goodluck to me!
