Miyuki's Pictorial - 11 days Old

She's my 2nd youngest baby to work with. The first baby that I took was Bridget. Who at that time maybe was 3 days old. I saw her in the hospital while visiting Reine, it was overwhelming for me. I didn't know much about the details of using the DSLR's correct setting. The pictures wasn't the kind of photos I wanted to have. My composition was not that good at that time too.

On the other hand during Miyuki's pictorial, I already got the knowledge but I am being far to be called a pro. I maybe will get there someday. For now, this practice is a learning experience. What I had encountered with Miyuki and my other pictorials was the lack of using complete accessories. For Miyuki's pictorial, I bought 1 monolight, umbrella, SB Flash and other small accessories. The problem I had during the photoshoot was the monolight. I wasn't able to use the softbox because I left the bone metal structure for the frame to support the softbox. I was kind of pissed deep inside. I also didn't bring the silver reflector to it. My friend didn't notice my frustrations. I hide it from her and I thought I should not ruined this pictorial. Then, I used right away an alternative plan to get the best photos I could get for her baby and it worked fine.

So what I did, I used just the bare monolight with no reflector or no softbox on it. I attached a white umbrella shooting through it to create a soft light. I told baby Connor who was there with me entertaining not to touch any of it because the bulb was hot. He listened to me attentively and followed. Next target was the SB Flash. I set up all the settings and ready to go. Problem was because of the little space and distance I am working on, the SB flash won't work. The monolight was the base power source and the flash could have been as a fill for the shadow. The SB Flash was making noise when I trigger the remote to synchronize both. So I turned the SB flash off. I could have used the reflector material for the shadow but my mind didn't register at that time.

Anyway, the photos turned out great though. I wish the lights would have been great. Every time I went to this kind of work, it gave me a different learning experience which is really getting used to.
